Tia Mowry wants you to know that she’s NOT preggers, and doesn’t have any plans to put any buns in the oven any time soon — other than on her new cooking show! But she does want you to know that she’s perfectly happy with how her body looks.

Recently the actress and Sister, Sister star went on HuffPost Live to clear things up after she’s been constantly bombarded with the question. We took away a few important points that Tia made during her discussion that are important for anyone to be aware of that’s concerned with our culture’s obsession with the female body.

Be sure to SHARE her words and spread the body positivity!

“I’m just enjoying life, and when I want to drop the pounds, I will, but right now I’m happy with who I am. But it IS a form of body-shaming, I will say that.”

Mowry had a son with husband Cory Hardrict back in 2011 and while she mentions during the interview that she does feel like she’s up 10 or 15 pounds (due to the cooking show!) she couldn’t care less. To assume that such a menial amount of weight on an actress means that they must be carrying a child is absurd.

“We live in a society that is so obsessed with being perfect … why can’t we just be us?”

Mowry believes that the judgement on the shape of women’s bodies needs to stop. She mentions that when she decides to change the shape of her body she will, but that decision or judgement on when or how it needs to change is totally up to her.

“We need to be more supportive with body images, especially with women, showing that all sizes are beautiful.”

Mowry goes on to quote Beyoncé’s song, “Pretty Hurts” by reminding her fans that “perfection is a disease.” If we’re unable to see the beauty in each other, and we hold celebrities to standard of perfection, we’ll gives ourselves the same unreachable standards. Let’s sow seeds of happiness within one another rather than those of judgement.
