Biden Blasts Off

Opinions on President Obama are a mixed bag; they go from absolute hatred to absolute adoration. But let’s not forget about our nation’s Vice President, Joe Biden. No matter your thoughts on the current presidency, it’s hard to argue against the fact that both Obama and Biden are just plain cool; they aren’t uptight, and they seem more down to earth than our previous leaders. Biden seems to be having a blast at the end of his eight year run as VP. Case in point: He just filmed a cameo for Law & Order.

But doing amazing things doesn’t have to be just fun and games. Being a big proponent of gay rights, Vice President Biden had the honor of officiating a gay wedding for some of his coworkers, and it shows a whole new level of acceptance for our country.

The Declaration of Independence states that all men are created equal. Regarding LGBT rights, Biden said, “I am absolutely comfortable with the fact that men marrying men, women marrying women, and heterosexual men and women marrying one another are entitled to the same exact rights, all the civil rights, all the civil liberties.” How can you hate on someone so empathetic?

The hot topic of gay marriage wasn’t talked about so much until 2012. Both Biden and Obama were originally wishy-washy on their stances, but then Biden released a public statement that supported marriage equality. And just three days later, the president was also on board. Now that is some serious teamwork.
