Richter remained in the industry until he walked away from acting in 1998 at the age of 18. He had always been interested in pursuing music and decided to give it a real try after retiring from film. He bounced from group to group until he eventually settling as the bassist for Fermata. The band did three US tours and had moderate success in 2006 with their single, “Frustrated.” He loved the relative anonymity that came with playing music and the feeling that no one was fawning over him just because of his past.
After years on the road, Jason decided to return to acting. In 2009, he appeared in an episode of Bones as well as an episode of the short-live Criminal Minds spin-off Suspect Behavior in 2011. He’s also started writing his own screenplays and has a TV pilot that he’s shopping around. In addition to his writing, Richter is set to appear in six films slated to premiere by 2018 and has recently starred in a LA stage production of Edward Albee’s The Zoo Story.
