You’ve probably heard of ding dong ditch, but in Ireland, they call it knick knack. Camera-wielding Mark Smyth encouraged his eighty-one-year-old mother Olive to be mischievous, but for a much deeper reason than you might think.

Olive’s husband died last March, and son Mark wanted to do something to cheer her up. The family returned to Olive’s hometown of Stoneybatter, and while walking through her old neighborhood, she recalled how she used to play knick knack on the other houses.

“Why don’t we do it know?” Mark suggested. And that was the birth of an endearing viral video. But if you think Olive is the only grandparent going viral this week, think again!

The elderly man deadlifted 130 kg during the Danish Nationals last year, and he’s considered to be the oldest powerlifter in the International Powerlifting Federation. How’s that for motivation?
